Established in Los Angeles since 1912, A.N. Abell Auction Company is a full-service auction house that provides finest collection of antiques, decorative furnishings, and collectibles including oriental rugs, pianos, porcelains, glass and jewelry. A.N. Abell Auctions are organized weekly, with most honored weekly Thursday Auction, that feature modern furnishings, antiques and jewelry with buyers coming from all over the country. A.N. Abell Auction Company is also known for their Quarterly Auction, that mostly feature period furniture, high-end home furnishings and fine art.

The company was initially established by A.N. Abell as a furniture store in downtown Los Angeles. Born in Kiev, Russia, Abraham Abell immigrated to the United States in 1907 where he settled in California. Shortly after his arrival in Los Angeles in 1912, Abell began his venture into the business world with the purchase of a furniture store from a family member. During World War I, Abell transformed the modest store into an auction house, changing the name to Liberty Auctions. It wasn’t until 1916 and a relocation to West Adams that Abell officially changed the name to A.N. Abell Auction Company.

A.N. Abell and his wife of 55 years, Reva, had three children, Robert David and Rosalie. Early on, Abell instilled his family values into the company, values that reflected personal nature of each customer experience. Abraham Abell was President of A.N. Abell Auction Company until his death in January of 1976, when his eldest son, Robert, proudly assumed the role.

Barry Abell represents the third generation of the Abell family; he is the grandson of founder A.N. Abell and the son of Robert Abell. Raised in Westwood, he attended University High School and Valley College. Having grown up in the family business, Barry has worked at Abell Auction Co. since 1969. He and his family currently reside in Pasadena. Barry has devoted countless hours to non-profit organizations on behalf of children’s heath and education.
