[edit] About

Located on the corner of Houston and Bowery Street, Noho, B4 It Was Cool is specialized in industrial lights dating from the early days of electricity up through the 1930s. The overpacked shop resembles an old barn, with lights and fixtures hanging low, all amidst vintage industrial furniture, drafting stools, chairs, various appliances, and scientific models and tools. Stools from the Toledo Metal Company are one of the store’s specialties. All of the pieces are original and American.

Owner Gadi Gilan has been rummaging flea markets and old factories for iron, brass, and copper light fixtures since he opened the store in 1987.
