[edit] About
Situated at the famous Kensington Church Street, Denton Antiques features an impressive selection of chandeliers and lightings. The business was founded in 1900 by Mrs Mary Elizabeth Crick, who ran a small bookstore. By a fluke, the business was able to expand after selling one single antique chandelier for 100 guineas. This success started the interesting story of Denton Antiques, which is deservedly called “the most remarkable chandelier shop on earth” (Nina Campbell, HOUSE AND GARDEN, March 1989). In September 2005, ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST noted that “no one knows more about chandeliers than the Denton and Crick families, who've been in business for generations and whose holdings continue to amaze and dazzle”. In 1922, THE STAR characterized Mrs Crick as “one of the leading authorities in London, a vivacious woman possessed of humour, and with a twinkle in her eye”. The most vivid demonstrations of Denton Antiques' success are its chandeliers that are installed in distinguished public places such as St Paul's Cathedral, The Royal Albert Hall, the Bank of England (Court Room), and the Canadian Parliament Building in Ottawa.
