First established in 1919 in Alexandria, Egypt by Gabriel Taraboulsy as a jewellery store, Lapidarius, since 1973, has become a Montreal antique shop. From 1990, the shop has been located at Greene Avenue in the Westmount enclave. It specializes in antiques, including jewelry, watches, silverware, crystal, porcelain and many more. In 1973, Maged Taraboulsy became the second generation to join the family business. He has since acquired an unparalleled reputation as an expert in appraisals and the liquidation of estates.
