Located at West North Avenue in Wicker Park, Vintage Underground is an antique store whose main specialty is costume jewelry. The 3,500 square foot showroom displays a wide range of styles, from the mid to the late 20th century, including designer-signed pieces. Apart from jewelry, the store holds a large inventory of period clothing and accessories, including hats, purses, belts and more, plus furnishings, lamps, typewriters and cameras. Owner of the shop, Carlos Pascoll, has been collecting antique and vintage items since childhood. He used to own Chicago-based antique store Carlos Antiques. His co-owner, Ellen Sax, is also a passionate collector of vintage costume jewelry, and has previously owned a gift boutique specialized in artisan jewelry. Carlos and Ellen had met at many vintage shows before they decided in 2008 to join forces and opened Vintage Underground in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
